I actually bought it from Amazon. With that driver the device is detected, but it does not seem to be possible to actually put any traffic through it. Changed in linux Ubuntu: Raspberry Pi reboots when you plug it into the USB port, but after that works fine. It only has 1 USB and no ethernet.

It only has 1 USB and no ethernet. The time now is I have it configured with a static ip address and it still appears in the output of ifconfig -a, with the ip address and there are no error messages I can see, but it will not pass traffic. Am I missing a setup step here? If you’d like to contribute content, let us know. The specifications and the chipset may change without notice.

I am not set up for recompiling. The D-link DUB-E seems to be a completely updated version — though the link in the original article points to the current product page, it is not bulky any more and uses a different driver. BK, as seen on amazon? This is, linyx course, a very crude test with a single exemplar of each type, so mfs7830 it with several grains of salt. Easy to follow instructions on how to download the kernel source code and symbol files can be found in the 2nd posting hereincluding how to compile the module.
