Having just acquired Leathermna Center-Drive, getting familiar with the layout of the multi-tool, it shows a lot of promises. But Leatherman Surge and Wave will substitute full-size tools. Please make sure that you are posting in the form of a question.
If you have any emotional attachment to your Leatherman, let them know, then they will replace or repair only the part damaged.
Both Surge and Wave incorporate built-in rulers. Basically, all Leatherman Multi-tools that utilize the large bit holder, can use the Bit Driver Extender, which is 30 Leatherman multi-tools. Open the body by retracting Plier head, pull out the File blade, and close the body by closing Plier head: Of course blade material is HC stainless for both.
I’ve been toying with getting the extender in black as well, but until I find Lextherman need the extender in execution, I think I’ll keep it on the “maybe one day” list for now. However, the Surge has 2.
However, there are provisions to add an additional leathegman lanyard ring, or as mentioned earlier, belt-clip, for both Surge and Wave. The beauty of this is you can configure one-bit card with bits you do use and thereby streamlining your sheath.

I plan to return the Gerber Center-Drive for repair or replacement, based on workmanship issues total of 3 issues; pry bar chipped? I even called to verify it indeed was in black oxide.
On the Surge, just like the file blade, it is removable interchangeable. It is nice to not have to carry my tool case on service calls. The mix of bits bi a odd combo. Metric Allen set and Standard Allen wrench set. The Center-drive appears to be tailored more for a mechanic or technician.
