I’m sure this will work as soon as I figure out how to completely clean out the Realtek drivers.
You can try this older driver remover program; it’s has been abandoned since meaning no new development since ’03crystsl it should work with Win98, but I have NEVER used it for anything.

I ran setup and restarted the machine, and the device now appears as “Crystal Audio Codec” in Crysfal Manager with an exclamation icon.

Crystal CS4205 Sound Driver Windows XP Driver will not load
All I can suggest otherwise is try to “force” the correct driver by ignoring the message that says “device not fully compatible with this driver” and “force” Windows to accept that driver. The time now is Almost a month later and I finally got some time and a monitor. I will try that tomorrow, thanks.

The first listed CS driver does not give me this error, however, attempting to install all three drivers results in a DLL error and an illegal cs205 operation.
No sound with SuSE , Crystal CS Dell Inspiron
Everything works great except for the fact that I have aueio sound. Because of this, Windows will only let me install another driver or update the current one. I do not know the chip number. Guess its a generic error message. Linux – Hardware This forum is for Hardware issues.

(Windows 98) Problems Installing Crystal Audio Sound Drivers
